Fruit Crumble

- 225g (8oz) plain flour
- 100g (4oz) butter
- 50g (2oz) unrefined Caster Sugar
- Fruit Filling

- 900g (2lb) prepared fruit
- Apples (sliced)
- Rhubarb (chopped into 1" chunks)
- Blackberries
- Plums (halved)
- Gooseberries
- Peaches (halved or quartered)
- mixed or one type of fruit only
- 175g (6oz) Unrefined Caster Sugar
- 6 tablespoons water
Central Heating & Freestanding Models: Set the oven thermostat to 190°C
- If using frozen fruit, place into a dish and place on the top of the Redfyre to thaw, don't the water from the recipe.
- Sift flour into a bowl, add butter and rub in with fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in sugar
- Place fruit, sugar and water (if using) into oven dish. Add additional spices if you wish, depending upon fruit: if using apples, add a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon and a grating of nutmeg to the fruit; if using rhubarb, add a little (no more than 25g) of chopped stem ginger
- Sprinkle crumble topping over fruit (don't pack it down too tightly)
- Bake in oven as directed above until crumble topping is lightly browned and fruit tender
- Serve with custard, cream or ice-cream and enjoy!
